This exhibit tells the story of the history of the Montreal General Hospital within the context of the evolution of Montreal, changing societal norms and ever expanding health care innovations. Due to its scope, we had to significantly limit our discussion to a selection of highlights. These difficult editorial decisions were made in careful consultation with senior physicians and other MGH alumnae. The exhibit does not attempt an exhaustive accounting of the many fine people who worked there and their numerous accomplishments. For such an accounting, we recommend The General: A History of the Montreal General Hospital, edited by Joseph Hanaway and John H. Burgess.
